Ya know, as we all (or some of us, anyway) are counting down the minutes until we get our hot little hands on Book Six, I would like to point out that back in the day, all my local bookstore people got to know me very well as the "Jedi Apprentice" hounder. I knew the release dates for all the Jude Watson books. They always came out on a Tuesday. But sometimes they appeared a bit early, and I would start prowling the bookstores on Sunday night for the books. On Tuesday if it still hadn't appeared, I would go to the info desk and make them find the boxes and open them for me.
I also remember many, many years ago when Harry Potter Book Four came out. I hadn't read the books yet. All I wanted was the latest "Jedi Apprentice." (Can't remember which one it was specifically.) And long past the publishing date, the bookstores still didn't have it. I couldn't figure out why, and it was driving me insane. Finally one bookseller suggested that it was probably because of this evil book called HARRY POTTER, which had totally tied up all of Scholastic's delivery systems. Everything else was on the back burner as they shipped that damn book about some stupid wizard kid. And I said, "I don't care about some stupid wizard kid! I need my Jedi Apprentice!!!!" There were no parties for Jedi Apprentice, no midnight releases. But by the Force, I was THERE, demanding my copy, hounding the poor bookpeople.
Yes, us book fanatics get a little worked up sometimes.

LOL! I was totally nuts about JA too! :> Perhaps luckily for the bookstores, though, I had about a dozen to choose from, which means my hounding mostly involved the half dozen phone calls I'd make each day till I finally found a store that had the newest book. :>
(All the while, of course, I was telling myself that I might be sad, but at LEAST I wasn't one of those rabid Harry Potter nuts. Oh, how the mighty have fallen!)
